At Boulders Beach, visitors can see these remarkable birds in their coastal habitat.🌊 FACT 3 — SOUTH AFRICA SITS BETWEEN TWO OCEANSThe Atlantic Ocean lies along the west coast, while the Indian Ocean influences the country's eastern and southeastern coastline. Cape Agulhas is commonly recognized as the geographic meeting point of the two oceans.🦁 FACT 4 — SOUTH AFRICA IS HOME TO THE BIG FIVELion, leopard, elephant, rhinoceros, and African buffalo can all be found in South Africa. The famous term "Big Five" originally came from hunting terminology and is now widely associated with wildlife tourism and conservation.🌍 FACT 5 — SOUTH AFRICA HAS INCREDIBLE COASTAL DIVERSITYFrom rugged cliffs and cool-water coastlines to sandy beaches and subtropical shores, South Africa's coastline changes dramatically from region to region.
“Trade Secret” follows an unexpected trio working to shield polar bears from global commercial exploitation. Over the course of six years and spanning 13 different countries, the documentary shines a light on the alarming permitted trade of hundreds of polar bears annually. However, their quest reveals a shocking reality: the very individuals who are supposed to ensure the species’ safety might be implicated in their ongoing trade. The film presents pressing concerns about our methods of safeguarding at-risk wildlife in today’s world, where the boundary between conservation and exploitation is increasingly unclear.

A sharp cold snap hit the Balkans on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, bringing the season's first snow to higher mountain areas across several countries.
In Bulgaria, the first snowflakes were reported at the Pamporovo resort on September 22. According to the Mountain Rescue Service, the snowfall was light and brief, failing to form a layer of snow on the ground.
Romania recorded its first autumn snowfall in the highest reaches of the Southern Carpathian Mountains overnight between Monday and Tuesday, followed by heavier snow overnight between Tuesday and Wednesday, according to the National Meteorological Administration. A thick layer of snow covered the Transfagarasan, Romania's most famous mountain road.
The heaviest snow accumulation occurred around Bâlea Lake. Temperatures dropped by 10 degrees Celsius across southern and western Romania, marking a drastic shift from the previous summer-like weather.
In Serbia, the first snow fell on the highest peaks of the Golija and Kopaonik mountains ahead of the autumn equinox, according to local media reports. Temperatures across Serbia are expected to drop gradually.
Kosovo also recorded its first snowfall, as reported by Albanian-language news portals. Heavy snow was reported in the mountainous areas of the Deçan and Istog municipalities in the country's west.
Snow also fell on the highest peaks of Mount Olympus in Greece, according to photos published on Tuesday. Temperatures remained relatively high across most of the country, although weather conditions deteriorated in some areas.

Imagine buying around 1,000 cars—and never paying the bill.
In the 1970s, Sweden extended credit to North Korea after relations between the two countries warmed. North Korea ordered about 1,000 Volvo 144 sedans along with other Swedish goods. The vehicles and shipments arrived in 1974 and 1975, but the payment never came.
What happened next turned an ordinary trade deal into a remarkable financial story. Sweden’s export-credit agency continued sending invoices, while interest accumulated over the decades. The unpaid amount is now estimated at roughly 2.7 to 2.9 billion Swedish kronor, equivalent to around $260–330 million.
The story of North Korea’s unpaid Volvo bill is one of those strange moments in international trade that sounds almost unbelievable—but the debt became a long-running part of the story.
Why were so many Volvos delivered on credit? Why was the bill never paid? And how did a decades-old car purchase become worth hundreds of millions of dollars?
Watch until the end and discover the fascinating story behind North Korea’s famous unpaid Volvo debt.

Sweden is far stranger than it looks on the map. From 267,570 islands and ancient forests to a town being moved because of an underground mine, this country is packed with geography facts that sound almost impossible.
In this video, we explore 30 insane geography facts about Sweden — from the frozen waters of the Bothnian Bay and the deepest point of the Baltic Sea to ancient coral reefs, massive asteroid craters, wild national parks, and a mountain that is actually getting shorter.
You'll discover the story behind Sweden's 9,550-year-old spruce, the strange border on Märket island, Sweden's underground iron ore mine in Kiruna, the giant Göta Canal, the mysterious Ales Stones, the ancient rock formations of Gotland, and the incredible post-glacial rebound along Sweden's coastline.
We'll also explore Sweden's extreme temperatures, Sarek National Park, Lake Vänern, Lake Vättern, the Siljan asteroid crater, Swedish forests, reindeer herding, and the unique geography of northern Sweden.
And finally, we look at one of the most unusual things about Sweden: allemansrätten, the right of public access to nature that allows people to hike, camp, swim, ski, cycle, and explore much of the country's natural landscape.
If you love geography, maps, Scandinavia, European geography, Swedish history, natural wonders, unusual places, and fascinating country facts, this one is for you.

Here is a fun fact for Germany.
Germany's governing coalition is struggling to contain the electoral rise of the far-right Alternative für Deutschland while simultaneously trying to convince voters that a genuine economic recovery is underway. The two crises are deeply intertwined: political instability is undermining confidence in democratic government at precisely the moment when citizens most need competent economic management. For Europe's largest economy, the stakes extend well beyond Berlin.
