Filter ByTwo Seasons, Two Strangers (2026) is an 89-minute Japanese drama film directed by the award-winning filmmaker Sho Miyake [sgiff.com]. Adapted from two manga short stories by Yoshiharu Tsuge, the film presents a unique, non-linear split structure. The first half follows an awkward encounter under the summer rain between Nagisa and Natsuo on a secluded beach. The narrative then shifts to winter, tracing the journey of Li, a South Korean screenwriter facing a creative block, as she isolates herself in a snow-covered village and forms an unusual bond with Benzo, a local innkeeper.
The greatest strength of this Golden Leopard prize winner lies in its ability to capture small, mundane human interactions and elevate them into something profoundly poetic and deeply resonant. Through breathtaking cinematography, the sharp visual contrast between the melancholic summer beachscapes and the vast, silent winter snowfields effectively amplifies the theme of emotional isolation. The natural performances of Shim Eun-kyung [imdb.com] as Li and Yuumi Kawai [nytimes.com] as Nagisa bring immense depth to a film that is light on action but rich in meaningful contemplation about modern loneliness.
Two Seasons, Two Strangers is an honest, elegant, and soothing portrait of how humans confront the emotional voids in their lives. Sho Miyake proves once again his sensitivity as a director, masterfully weaving connections between characters through quiet moments that speak much louder than words. The film serves as a beautiful reminder that even when we feel like total strangers in this world, there is always room to connect during the unpredictable seasons of life.
Final Rating: 4 out of 5 stars (⭐⭐⭐⭐☆)

South Africa Weather for Today & Tomorrow Update
South Africa can expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies and cool conditions across much of the country today, although central and northeastern regions will be warmer. Very isolated showers and thundershowers may develop ahead of a cold front that is set to make landfall on Tuesday. As a significant cut-off low forms on Saturday, a band of showers and thunderstorms will emerge over the Northern Cape Province, spreading eastward into the Western and later the Eastern Cape Province. The South African Weather Service has issued Yellow Level 2 warnings for severe thunderstorms—bringing the risk of heavy rain, hail, strong gusty winds, and frequent lightning—in the eastern parts of the central and eastern Northern Cape Province and the Beaufort West area of the Western Cape Province, where localized flooding of roads, bridges, and settlements is possible. Furthermore, a Yellow Level 2 warning for disruptive rain is in effect for western parts of the Eastern Cape Province, where persistent downpours could lead to additional flooding through Sunday. Residents are urged to stay updated on forecasts and take precautions in areas prone to adverse weather and flooding.
